Bulk Metal Halide Perovskites as Triplet Sensitizers: Taking Charge of Upconversion
نویسندگان
چکیده
Photon upconversion via triplet–triplet annihilation has the potential to improve performance of photovoltaics, as additional sub-bandgap photons can be harnessed. Recently, bulk metal halide perovskite materials have been introduced triplet sensitizers, resulting in near-infrared-to-visible when coupled annihilator rubrene. Perhaps most excitingly, layer absorb up 60% incident light at wavelengths 780 nm, a feat not possible with previously examined PbS nanocrystalline sensitizers. However, exact nature sensitization process, which is thought occur through free charge mechanism, completely elucidated, large part due complexity this system. Perovskite-sensitized systems, while still their infancy, revolutionize field photon upconversion, eventually industrial relevance, once rich photophysics system are fully understood.

Charge carrier mobility in hybrid halide perovskites
The charge transport properties of hybrid halide perovskites are investigated with a combination of density functional theory including van der Waals interaction and the Boltzmann theory for diffusive transport in the relaxation time approximation. We find the mobility of electrons to be in the range 5-10 cm(2)V(-1)s(-1) and that for holes within 1-5 cm(2)V(-1)s(-1), where the variations depend...
متن کاملLead Halide Perovskites and Other Metal Halide Complexes As Inorganic Capping Ligands for Colloidal Nanocrystals
Lead halide perovskites (CH3NH3PbX3, where X = I, Br) and other metal halide complexes (MX(n), where M = Pb, Cd, In, Zn, Fe, Bi, Sb) have been studied as inorganic capping ligands for colloidal nanocrystals. We present the methodology for the surface functionalization via ligand-exchange reactions and the effect on the optical properties of IV-VI, II-VI, and III-V semiconductor nanocrystals. In...
متن کاملMetallonaphthalocyanines as triplet sensitizers for near-infrared photon upconversion beyond 850 nm.
In triplet-triplet annihilation-based photon upconversion (TTA-UC), the utilization of near-infrared (NIR) light with a wavelength longer than 850 nm remains an outstanding issue. We realized this by employing metallonaphthalocyanines as triplet sensitizers; upon excitation of NIR light (856 nm), upconverted emission was observed in the visible range with remarkable photostability.

Controlling the size and shape of semiconducting nanocrystals advances nanoelectronics and photonics. Quantum-confined, inexpensive, solution-derived metal halide perovskites offer narrowband, color-pure emitters as integral parts of next-generation displays and optoelectronic devices. We use nanoporous silicon and alumina thin films as templates for the growth of perovskite nanocrystallites di...
